Joel performed a convincing run in his first-ever oval qualifying session, taking a front row slot for tomorrow’s Freedom 90 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.
Tackling the oval qualifying format – which features drivers running one by one over a two-lap average attempt – for the first time of his life, Joel proved immediately at home with the concept.
While his two laps ultimately came up a mere 0.03 seconds shy of pole-setter Jack William Miller, Joel’s performance leaves him ideally placed for Friday’s race, as he bids for his second straight USF Pro 2000 victory.
