Knockhill Race 1: Joel back on the podium!

KnockhillBF4-46

Joel returned to the British F4 podium with second place in the opening race of the weekend at Knockhill.

Back on the rostrum for the first time since the season-opener at Thruxton back in May, Joel maintained his position from the front row behind pole-sitter Matias Zagazeta throughout an incident-strewn race that featured one safety car intervention and then finished with a red flag.

“Very nice to be back on the podium,” says Joel. “I couldn’t quite keep up with Zagazeta early on, but the longer we ran the better it got and I managed to close the gap a bit. Unfortunately that was then repeated after the safety car restart where he pulled away again, so perhaps we have some room for improvement there. All in all, though, I’m happy with P2 and the team has done a good job as well getting us here.”

This is Joel’s third rostrum of the 2021 season, following his podium double at Thruxton.

The Knockhill meeting concludes on Sunday with the remaining two races of the weekend. Joel will start the Race 3 finale from another front row slot.
